Humanity perches on the edge of a knife, our enigmatic, galactic patron, The Foundry, having turned its back on us. For tens of thousands of years, we have committed many sins, but not protecting life might have been our worst. After fleeing the scene of a mass murder with new terraforming equipment aboard, and seeing only a single, dangerous path remaining back to Earth, Milo and his crew must face challenges both strange and terrible to reach the planet they were born of. What they find back in SOL, however, is not what they had hoped for. Time has passed, and that place is long gone, conflict and strife and war and Universe knows what else having taken its place with both wonders and nightmares in equal measures.
Do they now possess the ability to save what our entire species could not? Will the Foundry change its mind and help, or is it time for all that we have ever known to become nothing more than an interesting footnote for those who uncover our remains a million years from now?
Milo must decide our fate, but the answer he gives might cost more than he is willing to let go of.
